What is my interpersonal style?
My interpersonal style is practical and down-to-earth.
You can think of me as a companion walking with you on a journey of discovery and growth: someone who provides you with safe space to explore your life, your values, your strengths, your dreams, your purpose; someone fully present to you, non-judgmental and always curious; someone who helps you get to the heart of who you are, what you really care about and why you are here. It can take awhile for me to get to know you and your world, and for you to get to know me as well.
As we work together, I will ask questions that will help you sort and gain clarity. I will offer suggestions and perspective when you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, help you to prioritize, point you to other resources, help you identify your roadblocks and alert you to ways you sabotage yourself. I will celebrate your victories with you and support you as you take the next step. I will care about you, encourage you, and as best I can, help you find what you seek.
You will find me above all, a careful listener. You will find yourself doing much more of the talking than I do. I will listen to your words as well as for what is between your words. I will not tell you what you ought to do because I believe you are the expert of your own life circumstances. Instead, I will partner with you by offering a thought provoking and creative process of self-discovery. As you become increasingly clear about who you are and what your purpose is, you will know what choices to make around your specific life circumstances. As someone recently said to me, “If you know who you are, you’ll know what to do”.
