“We have to keep asking God to help us see clearly what our call is and to give us the strength to live out that call with trust.” — Henri Nouwen
Do you ever feel lost? Like you need a compass to help you navigate your life from the inside out rather than being at the mercy of life’s changes?
Dawna Markova provides such a compass in her book, I Will Not Die an Unlived Life: Reclaiming Purpose and Passion. She suggests four easy-to-remember questions that can be used as compass points at any given intersection of our lives. The acronym she uses to describe this “inner homing device” is LIVE, where each letter represents a different question:
L-What do I Love?
I-What are my Inner gifts and talents?
V-What do I Value?
E-What are the Environments that bring out the best in me?
I think these are great questions to ask when we facing decisions or when we are reflecting on our lives in general. And, as we listen closely for answers, these questions can help us discern our unique purpose in this world. As we journey with these questions, we may not always know where we are, but we’ll know which direction we’re headed!
Four short questions: LIVE
I’m going to add this compass to my back-pack! How about you?
